The offical bluestate blog announcement, with more details, is here. How excited am I? Black Cat dance party + CD release party for one of my favorite bands + awesome guest DJs = very excited blogger/DJ.
When you've had four hours of sleep and a bunch of caffeine, do you feel like a zombie too? It's a freakishly fake feeling, like you're being forced awake by some sort of mad scientist.
Anyway, aside from the zombie feeling, things are great. We had a super turnout at Gate 54 last night. The place was absolutely packed with everyone from our fabulous regulars to all of Full Minute of Mercury to my little brother and his ladyfriend to people we'd never met before but were very happy to meet. One of the new people was a guy who heard about us from someone at Mousetrap and was one of those people who asks about the songs we're playing, which makes me happy, because I feel even more like I'm spreading my love for the bands I'm excited about. One of the highlights of the evening was when, at 12:55 a.m., when the place was already emptying out, two adorable hipster girls started dancing to the Morrissey song Kyle was playing. They danced for about 20 minutes and it was cute and sexy and made me smile. I got home very late, of course, and am sleepwalking through today, but it was completely worth it.
Special thanks to Ms. gl*mrocker for my girlprops presents: these earrings and a no-crystals version of this necklace.
Last night's setlists (with lots of downloads) should be up very soon, with pictures to follow.
More information about the September 10 bluestate will be revealed soon. Hint: it's a CD release party for a much-anticipated album and we have fantastic guest DJs.
UPDATE: The setlists are posted here. My photos are here, and I'll link to Kyle's and my brothers when they're up. If I took a picture of you that you hate and want me to take down from the public photos, let me know.

Last week's blind item is no longer blind. Her Daily Obsession have announced that their first single will be released on Ultragrrrl's Stolen Transmission label. The single, scheduled for a late October release, will include two Her Daily Obsession tracks (I'm thinking "Heartattack" and "Mathbook") as well as a remix of "Heartattack" by Junior Sanchez, who's remixed The Bravery, The Killers and Bloc Party, among others. Not bad for a band that's only played a handful of shows and hasn't officially released any other singles or EPs.

Hi, darlings. Have you already marked your calendars for tomorrow night?
We've gotten our hands on great new songs from Franz Ferdinand, stellastarr*, Nada Surf, Gang of Four and OK Go, plus lots of other great tunes new and old.
The new Franz Ferdinand single, "Do You Want To?" is stuck in my head, alternating its dominance with OK Go's "A Million Ways." If you haven't already heard these songs, you will hear them tomorrow night, and spend the rest of the week trying to get them out of your head. Warning: you will fail.
